As time goes on the more and more comfortable I'm becoming in the kitchen. I'm usually on the sidelines, volunteering to do the prep work, nervous to really get my hands dirty, but as of late, I'm beginning to find joy in being able to prepare and serve a meal from beginning to end that doesn't turn out completely horrible! I've found that throwing on some tunes, pouring a glass of wine and the art of chopping has made the whole process relaxing yet invigorating.
Now I can only imagine what that process would be like in a space with room, functionality and beautiful design - like the ones I'm sharing with you today.
These kitchens have all been on my Pinterest board for a while, and as I was sifting through images, I realized that I was seeing a trend in kitchen design that I was attracted to. The clean white walls, wood floors, contrasting navy blue cabinets with luxurious accents of marble and copper highlighted throughout.
This mixture of color, metal and stone is versatile among different preferred styles. It can be traditional, yet modern. Or industrial, yet rustic. Mixing metals has become one of my favorite trends (just like mixing wood tones!) which is why I love how the above sink is the absolute perfect combination of all my favorite things. Super clean lines, contrasting tones and a faucet that blends in beautifully with the marble allowing the copper farmhouse sink to shine.
Since not all of us may have the luxury (or the funds) to remodel an entire kitchen, or perhaps you're just a renter like me, that doesn't have to stop us from bringing this look into our own kitchens. One of the first and easiest upgrades I made in my rental apartment was to replace the pulls on the kitchen cabinets. Some simple copper pulls (such as these) on white cabinets would make a huge difference. Now match those with a coat of navy paint (I love this one from Ralph Lauren) on your backsplash and add a pop of marble accessories and your kitchen will look like it jumped right off my Pinterest board.
I'd love to hear what your current favorite kitchen trend is or how you redesign without a remodel. And please don't forget to share your thoughts, ideas and photos with us on Facebook and Instagram by hash-tagging #SundaysArrow. Happy cooking!
