DESIGN | Instant Upgrades On Any Budget
Hey guys, it's been a while! I'll admit, the holidays, a vacation and the start of a new year really kicked my butt. But, I'm BACK and the time away has allowed me to think about the upcoming year. I've decided instead of making one resolution I can't keep, I'm going to tackle small and feasible challenges throughout the year - like focusing more on this blog & its future, being more present in everything I'm doing and working on a long list of apartment DIYs (I'm also currently drinking warm lemon water every morning for a month and I just finished a 7-day Simplify Cleanse) to name a few.
Last May I was approached by my friend and founder of one of my favorite feel-good blogs Crop Tops & Kale to write a guest post about how to give your apartment an instant upgrade without breaking the bank or becoming Bob Villa. Since upgrading our apartment in small yet effective ways is part of my 2016 challenge list, I thought I would share my four favorite ways to do this with all of you.
Here it goes...
Temporary wallpaper - this idea is genius. You simply cut, peel and stick. It works wonders for areas like kitchen back splashes, entryways or a statement wall. It's also perfect for people (like me) who don't like to commit or like to change things up often. There is no commitment here as you can simply remove it whenever you'd like, with no real damage.
I'm currently looking to do this to two walls in our apartment. If I can ever decide which paper to go with!
This is perhaps the easiest and cheapest way to upgrade your space. Add a few low maintenance plants, find some fun and interesting planters and pots and watch your room come to life. Plants also naturally purify the air adding health benefits - BAM! A win/win.

The minute I move into a rental, my go-to move to spice it up is figuring out is what hardware I can change. Cabinet pulls, closet doorknobs and light switch covers are all easy and impactful ways to upgrade your home.
There are currently about 25 inches of snow melting outside as I sit here finishing up this post. Not only am I fully layered in long sleeves and a sweater, but my sofa is also layered with warm and cozy pillows & blankets.
Switching out your pillows, throws and even rugs can help give your room a new look and feel. Your home has seasons, too!
So will you be trying any of these quick upgrades? What are your favorite ways to instantly upgrade your space? Lemme hear them, because I'll be hibernating for the next month or so and would love to try them. Oh, and don't forget to share your pics and ideas with the rest of us by using the hashtag #SAInstantUpgrades on social!
